How does post-Covid affect the cardiovascular system?

There are now many reports of people experiencing cardiovascular aftereffects after recovering from Covid-19. When the SARS-CoV-2 virus attacks the body, it triggers an immune response, leading to inflammation. This inflammatory response may damage healthy tissue as well, including heart tissue.

In addition, the virus may damage and inflame blood vessels, creating blood clots that obstruct blood flow to the heart and other organs. This can directly and indirectly affect the cardiovascular system and lead to serious consequences such as arrhythmia, heart failure and vascular blockage…

To limit post-Covid cardiovascular damage, we should avoid strenuous exercise and instead:

  • Try to practice breathing exercises every day.
  • Avoid stress and anxiety and increase the amount of time spent resting and relaxing.
  • Follow a scientific and healthy diet, eat plenty of green vegetables and increase foods rich in antioxidants.
  • Limit stimulants such as tobacco and alcohol because they may interfere with the body’s recovery after illness.
