KNOWING does not mean DOING

We often talk about knowledge. We read books and articles about healthy diets but do not change our eating habits. We memorize exercise routines but never do them. We download dozens of books about self-development, read many articles, watch webinars, but do not apply that information in practice. Sometimes we simply save information in bookmarks and never return to it.

All these actions give us a feeling of being filled with useful knowledge and create the illusion that we are doing something instead of standing still. But in the end, none of this affects real life in any way.

People with enviable results differ not only in their ability to receive and process new information, but also in their ability to turn that information into experience. Their formula for success is: Study → apply → get a result. Many people stop at the very first stage.

To apply new behavioral strategies, you need to turn them into new neural connections. To do this, you need to act. Again and again. Only real actions lead to real change.

The more often we repeat a new action, the stronger the connection between certain neurons becomes. Eventually, a defined “path” forms in the brain, and from then on the corresponding signals pass through it more easily and quickly. Our actions become more fluid because the brain needs less energy to perform them. Train the skill — apply it. Finished a book — apply at least one new idea from it. Watched a video — do the same. Put new knowledge into practice. This is the only way to turn dreams and goals into reality.
